The Oscars…the world is watching Southern California…after yesterdays rain and hail…the sky is perfect. The Oscars…the world is watching Southern California…after yesterdays rain and hail…the sky is perfect. Somehow when you don’t have to worry about putting on layers of clothing…you can turn you mind to more creative endeavors. Continue reading
Stationery Trends: The Round the Clock Shower…it’s back!
Women giving showers…it is a rite of passage performed at what con be modestly called the Turning Points of a Lifetime. A Wedding, Anticipated Birth and now sometimes even to celebrate a much needed and welcome Divorce! Whatever the occasion, in the traditional sence, it is a chance for women to get together and celebrate, joke, hint at the future and maybe even offer some advice. In the new deffinition of the word…it is a chance for men and women to enjoy life transitions. During the California Gift Show and the NYIGF, I talked with all sorts of people…but the one theme people in the know about invitations kept requesting this season was a Round the Clock Shower Invitation. Art, Sculpture and Architectural Details at The University of Iowa
Iowa City…what a great place. When I first set foot on the campus of the University of Iowa about 2 1/2 years ago…I had no idea how much I would like it. Arriving in Iowa from Los Angeles, I really did not know what to expect, but the reality of what I found here was delilghtful. As I walked around campus, I could not help being struck with the number of sculptures on display. Some free-standing, some part of the architectural heritage of the school…but all good and all fun to look at! Continue reading

Beauty in the Iowa Snow for a Woman from Los Angeles
For someone who does not spend much time in the snow and ice, this frosty environment is magic for me…no matter where I turn.
It can be icicles dangling ominously from a gutter. Continue reading
Stationery Trends: Valentine’s Day and the deeper meaning behind the cliché red roses, chocolates and hearts.
To all the LOVELY PEOPLE out there celebrating the true meaning of Valentine’s Day. Sure Valentine’s is Chocolates and Romance, but to me there is a deeper meaning behind the cliché red roses, chocolates and hearts. Valentine’s is a day in our busy lives, when we slow down for just a heartbeat and think about the people we care the most about. Continue reading

New York City and the other side of the Chrysler Building
I have been coming to New York for many years…and everytime I visit the city, I longingly look at my favorite art deco skyscraper, the Chrysler Building.
Earlier this week I was in a cab making my way slowly through cross-town traffic on my way to set up Studio Daedre’s Booth at the NYIGF, when I happened to look up and out of the window and there it was…the front side of the building…the side I never get to see.
It is fabulous. Take a look at these photos and see if you can see the car hood ornaments on the structure.[slideshow] Continue reading
