It is true…sometimes the simplest things in life are the best. Today is my dear friends birthday and when asked what she wanted to do, she said she wanted to go on a hike. Being the sporty LA gal that I am, I thought great, that’s just what I would like to do too!
11 am was the meeting time…I thought it was going to rain…but it cleared up just as I was making my way to our rendezvous point. As a matter of fact, the sky was so amazing, I had to pull out may camera as I made my way down Pacific Coast Highway, (thank heavens for stop lights.) For LA…these were real clouds, big puffy ones, and the contrast from dark to light was breathtakingly beautiful.
Our hike: from the Cliffs of Santa Monica to Will Rogers State Park…an urban walk, as my friend explained to me…but wonderful. Views of the Pacific, lots of palm trees, gorgeous homes, we crossed a river, saw the polo field, a movie star and admired lots of interesting architecture. In fact the American Institute of Architects was having a Home Tour and we were right in the thick of it all! 
The best part of all, getting a chance to talk with my friend and get some excellent cardiovascular exercise as we walked up and down the hills. We even passed an orchard or cherimoya trees! 
Lovely…what a lovely afternoon. It is hard to pick my favorite view of the day, the palms, the clouds or could it be this classic piece of 60′s modern iron work on the front of one of the apartments we walked by!
Sometimes the simple things in life are the best.
